Groundbreaking Partnership with Standard Chartered Bank

Global Strategist Nick Gates officially launches kicking4CHANGE.

April 13th, 2012.  Coaches Across Continents has launched a ground breaking partnership with Standard Chartered Bank to deliver a life skills and financial literacy program called Kicking4CHANGE.

The Kicking4CHANGE program officially began in Ghana with a joint 3 day soccer clinic featuring Coaches Across Continents coaches and coaches from Liverpool Football Club.  Kicking off the program was Liverpool legend and all time leading goalscorer, Ian Rush.

Standard Chartered Bank has a global reputation for Social Responsibility and community initiatives as well as encouraging their local staff to be part of ongoing volunteer programs.  The Kicking4CHANGE initiative is a nationwide program to educate young people on how to make life and financial choices that positively impact their futures.

Coaches Across Continents and Liverpool FC coaches open kicking4CHANGE with Liverpool legend Ian Rush.

The Kicking4CHANGE initiative will train more than 500 local teachers and impact more than 20,000 children over 3 years through a series of coach/volunteer and young people sessions throughout Ghana.  Coaches Across Continents work with Youth Icons, a Ghana based partner to schedule these training sessions.  Through football, Kicking4CHANGE will educate young people on things like the role of a bank, opening a bank account, all the way to identifying and achieving long term financial goals.

“It’s fantastic to see Standard Chartered involved in another great project which can help give kids a better future,” said Reds’ ambassador Ian Rush.

At the official launch in Accra, CAC founder Nick Gates said, “It’s an exciting partnership between two socially responsible organizations, Coaches Across Continents and Standard Chartered Bank, that will impact thousands of young people.  We’re delighted to begin the kicking4CHANGE initiative in Ghana and would like to thank Standard Chartered Bank, Liverpool Football Club and Ian Rush for their support.”
