CAC Named Pioneer Organization for the International Safeguards for Children In Sport
November 1, 2014. CAC is proud to be named as a Pioneer Organization for the International Safeguards for Children in Sport (full press release). For the past two years CAC has been working with UNICEF (UK) as well as other global leaders to make sport safer for children all over the world. Children have the right to participate in sport in a safe and enjoyable environment. The Coaches Across Continents Child Rights Policy was developed in conjunction with this project, and has been implemented at every coach education training with our partner programs in 2014.
The International Safeguards for Children in Sport was launched at the Beyond Sport summit in Johannesburg in October 2014. It details eight safeguards that should be put in place by any organisation working with children in sport. These safeguards are already being piloted by organisations all over the world, including CAC, and are set to be adopted more widely.
The eight safeguards are:
- Developing Your Policy
- Procedures for Responding to Safeguarding Concerns
- Advice and Support
- Minimising Risks to Children
- Guidelines for Behaviour
- Recruiting, Training and Communicating
- Working with Partners
- Monitoring and Evaluation
