Charles Otieno is Our Latest Community Impact Coach
August 1st, 2013. Charles “Oti” Otieno Sisia is beginning a two-week stint with Coaches Across Continents as a Community Impact Coach. Selected by our Business Advisory Board, Charles works with Vijana Amani Pamoja (VAP) in Nairobi, Kenya. For the past four years, Charles has attended our trainings as well as working for VAP as their Program Officer. He coordinates all of their sports programs which includes linking the VAP coaches with their respective centers and to monitor the quality of the implementation of the Skillz Kenya curriculum (for HIV/AIDS), Mrembo curriculum (for reproductive health), and Kick Out Corruption Curriculum. For his outstanding service Oti was granted a complimentary VIP pass for all Tusker (Kenyan) Premier League games where his favorite team is Gor Mahia. His young brother, Tyrone Owino also plays in the league for Karuturi Sport.
This past June 25th, Oti was elected the Youth Representative for the Kamukunji Constituency Development Fund (CDF). This group helps with water projects, bursaries, colleges, and also funds other community projects. This is a great honor for Oti who was elected due to his great previous work with many of the local football coaches as well as the exposure he has received from working with many community leaders as well as their children whom he coaches in the local community leagues. CAC is excited to be adding such a well-respected and experienced community leader to our brand new Community Impact Coach program.
