    Meet the Society Empowerment Project (SEP)

    1. What is your name and what is your organization?
    I am Festus O. Juma, the Executive Director at SEP. Our Organization name is Society Empowerment Project (SEP).

    2. What is the biggest message you try to teach your kids through the game of soccer? SEP teaches on efficacy through football, focusing on different thematic issues such as Health, Entrepreneurship, Education, gender and Environment and Social inclusion.

    3. Who is your favorite soccer team?
    SEP as a team supports the Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School, Cambridge, MA.(CRLS)- the Falcons! As Festus, my favorite soccer team is Manchester United.

    4. If you could meet any famous soccer person in the world, who would it be? Why would you
    want to meet them? Samuel E’Too. I would like to meet him to give him a pat on the back, for the good initiative of
    using football to enhance peace, a project he has initiated in Kenya. This is a noble thinking of a player of his caliber.

    5. What is the best thing about working with Coaches Across Continents? The simplified and practical life skills sessions, touching on serious issues like Health, Girl Child Education right and more so, its competent and humorous coaches.

    2. What is the biggest message you try to teach your kids through the game of soccer? HIV/AIDS PREVENTION

    3. Who is your favorite soccer team? BARCELONA
    4. If you could meet any famous soccer person in the world, who would it be? Why would you want to meet them? DIDIER DROGBA BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN IN THE FOREFRONT FIGHTING HIV/AIDS

    5. What is the best thing about working with Coaches Across Continents? VAP GAINS ADDITIONAL LIFE-SKILLS THAT WORKS WELL WITH THE TARGETED GROUP.

    Meet the Likoni Community Football League

    1. What is your name and what is your organization?  Ben Levey, Likoni Community Football League

    2. What is the biggest message you try to teach your kids through the game of soccer? To work together as a team.  Whether it is on the field or in the community, teamwork is essential to success.

    3. Who is your favorite soccer team? Arsenal

    4. If you could meet any famous soccer person in the world, who would it be and why? Patrice Evra.  He is a leader on the field and demonstrates it in all facets of the game.  Also, left-back is the position I play :).

    5. What is the thing you are looking forward to most about working with Coaches Across Continents? I look forward to having coaches from all over the world meet the local coaches within the community and watch them work together (“pamoja”) for a common goal.  All the coaches in Likoni have an amazing amount of passion for their club and their kids. I also look forward to seeing the positive impact Coaches Across Continents will make to benefit each coach’s club and eventually the entire community.

    Meet Kisumu Youth Football Association

    1. What is your name and what is your organization? My name is Rachelle Strawther-Okumu and I am the Manager of the Kisumu Youth Football Association (KYFA).

    2. What is the biggest message you try to teach your kids through the game of soccer?  Football needs teamwork, leadership, practice, and fairness. So does everything in life. What you learn from playing football, practice in your daily life.

    3. Who is your favorite team? Manchester United

    4. If you could meet any famous soccer person in the world, who would it be and why? I would like to meet Zidane – because I have always wondered what really happened during the 2006 World Cup Finals and why his career had to end that way.

    5. What is the thing you are looking forward to most about working with Coaches Across Continents? Best thing about Coaches Across Continents is the way they make football FUN! Sometimes there is so much pressure and politics in football (yes, even youth football) that coaches forget to have fun with the kids. CAC is a great reminder to them.
