  • When the Ice Bucket Becomes a Soccer Ball

Over the last two months millions of people have used an ice bucket to spread awareness via social media. Let’s keep this amazing momentum going using a soccer ball and your skills!

We are challenging the soccer world, our staff, partners, friends, and supporters to show off their juggling skills and participate in our Juggles Across Continents Challenge. All you need is a soccer ball, a camera, and the will to help us spread the word about what is happening on Peace Day, 21 September.

A United Nations recognized day dedicated to world peace since 1981, Peace Day presents an opportunity for us all to take a stand as citizens of the world. CAC has teamed up with Peace One Day to use soccer as a tool to educate underserved communities across the globe about problem solving, peace building, and gender equality. Organizations from over 100 countries will receive our free resource packet of sport for social impact games that teach children about these important social issues. And with a simple 30-second video, you can be part of this game-changing, international movement.

So let’s make this happen. Replace that ice bucket with a soccer ball, see if you can juggle 9 times or more, then challenge 9 friends to do the same in the next 27 hours or donate $27 to http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/coachesacrosscontinents/jugglesacrosscontinents

All proceeds from this campaign will be used to help us provide hundreds of groups with our sport for social impact resource to play with millions of children on Peace Day.

With so many wars and massacres in the news, if ever the world needed to learn about peace, it’s now……So get juggling!

  • Support Peace Day with Juggles Across Continents

July 22, 2014.  Coaches Across Continents is proud to announce our Juggles Across Continents initiative.  In conjunction with yesterday’s historic announcement of the largest sport for social impact partnership, Coaches Across Continents is looking for 99 jugglers who want to promote peace and awareness for this great cause and help change the world in the lead up to Peace Day on 21 September.  It doesn’t matter if you are 3 or 93 years old, or even if you are a great soccer player, CAC is looking for the best people who want to promote this initiative and make sure that the funds they raise go to a worthy cause.

Read our Juggles Across Continents brochure for more information or how to apply.

Every juggler will receive a One World Futbol and CAC logo shirt to wear for their on-camera juggle attempt.  In addition CAC will provide incentives for donors to support each juggler, with prizes ranging from a brand new soccer bag, a full set (18) of new soccer shirts, or even a free clinic in your hometown.  Prizes will also be given for the jugglers who make the most fun video.  Finally, everyone who submits a high quality video will have some (or all) of it posted on our social media sites around Peace Day in September.

To apply to be one of our 99 Jugglers, read our information packet by clicking here.  Or send an email to and answer the following three questions:

    1. When I grow up I/we want to see/be/change…..
    2. The country I want my fundraising effort to go to is….
    3. I hope to raise …. dollars and …. juggles.

    That’s it!  Contact us today!

  • Sarah’s 100km Race to the Stones

July 15, 2014.  Sarah Brown is running 100km to raise funds for Coaches Across Continents. We fully support her efforts and hope that she enjoys every one of her 100 kilometers.  If you want to do a fundraising event with CAC as a beneficiary, we would love to talk!  Look for our 99 Juggles event to be launched on July 19th.
It’s only 5 days to go until ultra marathon madness.  My months of training are coming to an end but the excitement about this has been well and truly replaced by butterflies and nausea!  I find myself wondering why I am doing this crazy run but I am soon reminded why.  It is for an extremely worthy cause, raising money for Coaches Across Continents.
When I ran the London marathon 6 years ago the only thing that got me to the end, when both my knees felt like someone was attacking them with a hammer and chisel, was the thought of the good cause I was supporting and all of those who had sponsored me.  This little jog is over twice as far so if you’d like to help me crawl over the finish line on Sunday after 100km then here is the link:
    https://www.justgiving.com/SARAH-BROWN57/
Every little helps and is very much appreciated by both me and Coaches Across Continents.
Thanks so much for your support,
    Sarah

  • Harvard Women Juggle Across Continents

Harvard juggles3May 13th 2013:  Harvard Women’s Soccer team has just joined coaches and players from Liberia, Columbia, Haiti and Ghana by participating in CAC’s Juggles Across Continents initiative. All of our partner programs around the world will be participating in this program. Our goal is to reach 1,000,000 juggles by the end of 2013 ! The Harvard women’s soccer players have together added 4083 juggles to our total of more than 37,000 juggles for the beginning of 2013. Just like the Harvard women, you can help us reach our goal by joining other players all over the world to create lasting social change through soccer ! To learn more about how you can get involved, check our website.

Harvard’s involvement with CAC is not limited to the Juggles Across Continents initiative. The Harvard soccer community’s efforts have played 13855_428811610534924_268624553_nan important role in the success of our programs. Since 2009, more than 20 players and alumi from the Harvard men and women’s soccer teams have volunteered their time and skills to work at different Coaches Across Continents programs in Africa, South America and Asia. Assistant athletic director Tim Wheaton also traveled to Africa in 2012 to work with one of our soccer for social impact programs. Check out our ”Crimson Across Continents” facebook album to see pictures of Harvard players and alumni in countries such as South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Columbia, Haiti and India.

Harvard juggles1The Harvard athletic community has also joined efforts off the field to raise awareness and funds for Coaches Across Continents. In the spring season of 2012, the Harvard men’s soccer team hosted a match against Cape Verde to benefit Coaches Across Continents and the Cape Verdean Football Association. For the past few years the Harvard Varsity Club and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee have organized an Annual Charity Ball and 100% of the proceeds from this event benefit Coaches Across Continents.
